Atlantis Water Plants

In Walkabout Mini Golf, wind plays a significant role in enhancing the environment on many of the courses. Atlantis was no different, and we needed to adjust the system to account for the plants being underwater. How the wind normally works is we have the sway, lift, and size values baked into the vertex colors and have a second UV defining the offset and the softness of each object. The offset is mostly used to make each leaf in a plant move uniquely from the others, but for the water plants, I utilized this by having the plants be modelled straight, and then aligning each vertical section of the leaves would be strewn across the noise. This allowed the leaves to sway back and forth, simulating variable currents under the water. The result added to the tranquility of the level and boosted the appeal of an already amazing level.
